The highly anticipated Tour de Cure is set to make its annual return to St. Charles next weekend, bringing with it a renewed focus on fundraising for diabetes research. Organized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA), this event seeks to generate substantial financial support for advancing diabetes research and raising awareness about the disease.
In an interview with Good Day Chicago, Megyn Byrnes, Executive Director of the ADA, outlined the ambitious goal for this year’s event. “Our target is to raise $575,000. While that may seem like a significant amount, it’s important to remember that no single person is responsible for this alone,” Byrnes stated.
The event offers participants a choice of four different routes, ranging from 5 miles to 63 miles, catering to cyclists of all experience levels. Byrnes reassured potential participants, “Even if you haven’t ridden a bike in two decades, there’s a route for you.”
The Tour de Cure not only aims to unite riders, volunteers, and supporters but also strives to make a significant impact in the fight against diabetes. By participating, individuals contribute to essential research and help enhance public understanding of the condition.
