In a study conducted by Italian researchers, 32 participants engaged in light jogging for 30 minutes. Remarkably, one hour after exercise, the participants showed significant improvements in both glucose and insulin sensitivity. This discovery highlights how quickly exercise can positively affect the body, counteracting the risk factors associated with diabetes.
Alison Massey, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist, emphasizes that “exercise is free medicine for the body.” She further explains that lifestyle changes, such as incorporating regular exercise, can reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by about 50%. This reinforces the power of exercise, alongside other key factors like weight management and healthy eating.

Additionally, a balanced diet, with half of your plate filled with vegetables, is essential for overall health.
