The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. is hosting a diabetes self-management workshop at the Wood County Senior Center, located at 140 S. Grove St. in Bowling Green. The six-week course will be held every Tuesday from 1 to 3:30 p.m., starting on January 21 and running through February 25.
The evidence-based workshop, designed for individuals with Type 2 diabetes, is aimed at helping participants manage their condition more effectively. A $20 registration fee covers the cost of the course manual and CD.
Led by Kinsey Kale and Danielle Brogley from the Committee on Aging, the program will provide practical strategies for managing diabetes. Participants will learn to set weekly goals, develop a step-by-step health improvement plan, make informed choices about diet and exercise, and explore new treatment options. The course will also focus on effective communication with healthcare providers and family members.
This wellness curriculum, originally developed by Stanford University, is licensed by the Self-Management Resource Center, based in California.
