York residents seeking tools to better manage diabetes can enroll in Penn State Extension’s Dining with Diabetes workshop series. These in-person sessions are designed to provide practical guidance on diabetes management, including nutrition, exercise, and cooking demonstrations.
Workshop Details
The series will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, starting January 27 through February 24, excluding February 17. Sessions will be held at the Penn State Extension York County Office, located at 2401 Pleasant Valley Road, Suite 214. A follow-up class is scheduled for May 13.
The program is tailored for adults with Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, those with a family history of the condition, or individuals at risk of developing diabetes. Participants will engage in four consecutive weekly classes, followed by a three-month follow-up session. Topics covered include effective diabetes management strategies, interactive food demonstrations, and suggestions for incorporating physical activity into daily life.

The course fee is $39 and includes a Dining with Diabetes cookbook, course handouts, and additional educational materials.
